CD album design for self-described “neo-western” indie band Hi Ho Six Shooter!

The band came to me on a tight budget, and requested a cd booklet with black & white interior. This initially seemed limiting, but I ended up really enjoying the limit, as I chose to make the booklet interesting using only typography.

Empire’s album’s lyrics are concept-album-like, revolving around a few central characters and themes. I took this wonderful source material and built a kind of pseudo-book, featuring a page of type treatment for each song.
I squeezed all sorts of misalignment and misprints into the interior pages, evoking an amount of printing errors that would be tremendously impossible for any real printing press, however decrepit it may be. Here’s the entire set of interior pages, for your enjoyment:
